The Black Box project by Van Heertum Design

Thanks to Sven Spierings for both the suggest and the support.

One of the giants of the paperboard business, the Swedish company, Iggesund Paperboard – member of the Holmen Group and Europe’s leading manufacturer of high quality virgin fibre paperboard for use in the packaging and graphics sectors – has issued an exclusive challenge to designers or design teams with a proven track record experience in developing and producing complex packaging and print projects.

What will happen if you give a designer a tool with which he or she can do whatever they like? The only condition being that they make use of the unique properties of Invercote – Iggesund’s solid bleached board. The idea behind this campaign is actually quite simple: celebrate creativity as the ability to generate innovative ideas and bring them from thought into reality. The launch of Iggesund’s Black Box project Thinking inside the box was held few days ago, November 23rd, in Paris, in the fabulous settings of the Cercle Suedois/Swedish Club in conjunction with the famous Les Places d’Or – design and luxury packaging exhibition. Underwater Sculptures by Jason de Caires Taylor

…Pt. 2

Ingeniously exploring the symbiosis between art and environment, the multifaceted English/Guyanese artist, Jason de Caires Taylor, blends his strong interest in conservation, underwater naturalism and photography to materialize and make the most of his profound love of the sea and fascination with the natural world.

The Underwater Sculptures are the fine result of an ambitious project in which he creates artificial reefs submerged below the surface of the Caribbean Sea. In a constant state of change alongside tidal movement, shifting ocean sands and the eventual growth of corals and marine life, Taylor’s cement sculptures intend to facilitate positive interactions between people and fragile underwater habitats. His works are meant to encourage tourism to the galleries, sparing the delicate reefs nearby. (mais…)
